Courtney Giannone is a professional dancer, choreographer and movement instructor. She earned her BFA in dance from Fordham University and the Ailey School, New York City. Courtney has performed professionally with Queen of the Night, Neil Patrick Harris, Company XIV, Quixotic Fusion, Buglisi Dance Theater, Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theater, Pascal Rioult, STREB Extreme Action, Diavolo, Martha Graham, and Alvin Ailey.
Courtney is world champion in competitive wheel gymnastics for Team USA, She is currently the director of Cyr wheel, as well as Dance Director and resident choreographer, at San Diego Circus Center. Courtney instructs Cyr wheel, GYROKINESIS ®, GYROTONIC ®, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Dance Partnering, Dance Composition, Conditioning, Flexibility. She is also theinstructor and choreographer for Cyr wheel at Circus Juventas.
Courtney’s choreographic productions merge dance, circus and comedy. Her choreography has been performed at San Diego Circus Center, Circus Juventas, Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, BEAT BROOKLYN, Galapagos Arts Space, Dixon Place, STREB (funded by NY Arts Council), Carborro Arts Center in North Carolina, California State University of Long Beach, Cornish College of the Arts, and The Ailey School.
Her nominations, awards and affiliations include Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, the Rolex Mentor Protege Arts Initiative, Gold medal pianist of Carnegie Hall, scholarships to schools such as American Ballet Theater, Kirov Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Studio Maestro, Joffrey Ballet, STREB Extreme Action, Diavolo Dance Theater, Buglisi Dance Theater, Pascal Rioult Dance Theater, contest winner of the Dance Magazine video competition, recipient of the STREB Emerging Artist Commission, recipient of the Bindlestiff First of May Award 2013, and an artist in residence at Spaceworks NYC and Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, California.
